In October 2005, Simon was awarded the Royal Colleges Medal by the Royal Photographic Society "for the outstanding example of photography in the service of medicine and surgery". This is the highest award for medical photography from the RPS and was the first presentation of the medal for fourteen years. This was followed by a lecture at the Royal College of Physicians on 2nd February 2006.
